What is the limit term about "You've hit your global rate limit."? #190762
-
Discussion TypeGeneral Discussion ContentI'm a Pro+ subscriber, and this morning I received a global rate limit error after only about five conversations. "You've hit your global rate limit. Please upgrade your plan or wait for your limit to reset. Learn More" I've never encountered this problem before. I'd like to know if this is a new clause? Is there a specific rate limit indicator? How long after trying again is it supposed to happen? And I already have the highest-level Pro+ subscription, it even prompted me to upgrade my plan... I don't understand what this means. Even if there is a limit, why would a Pro+ user reach the rate limit after only five conversations? I really hope this is just a bug, otherwise this limit practically means Copilot's service is unusable. |

I only encountered the speed limit when I had five windows open simultaneously using the Pro subscription before, which is why I upgraded to the Pro+ subscription. I admit that having five windows open simultaneously is a bit excessive, but that's only a rare occurrence, and I didn't do that today. |

I just upgraded to Copilot Pro+ less then a week ago. If this is going to be permanent, then I am done with Copilot. I was in the middle of working and got hit with a 4 hour wait. So basically I am on the most expensive plan and I have to just sit around for 4 hours and do nothing. |

Alright now you’re really pissing me off. It’s been easily two weeks that there’s problem after problem with your product. So I’m aware that you’re trying to minimize your financial losses as much as possible, but this is becoming too much. I’m leaving your service, you’ve won everything, and I hope I’m not the only one. You really treat us like shit. |

Same here. I’m a Copilot Pro subscriber, yet I’m getting the user_global_rate_limited:trial error. To make matters worse, it’s still charging my credits for every failed attempt. |

Everyone needs to submit a service ticket so github is aware of this. |

Same here, getting an error of "You've hit your global rate limit. Please upgrade your plan or wait for your limit to reset.". Paid Pro user, just used up to 80% of monthly limit. Looks like to be a bug, cuz many are reporting the same issue in a short period of time. |

I don't know if problem is fixed globally, but for me it has been resolved. I can't claim that this resolved the issue. I have also pushed ticket request, but closed it after it worked. |

Is it working for everyone again? I’m not totally sure this is what fixed it, but after I removed the premium request limit in my budgets on GitHub, it started working for me. |

It must be a bug. Looks like the devs are vibe coding github copilot with github copilot now. |

We are actively reviewing what happened and taking steps to strengthen our systems to help prevent similar issues in the future. Thank you for your patience and for bearing with us while we worked to restore normal service. |

Hello @ColdeZhang 👋 Even Pro+ users may occasionally encounter a “global rate limit” if the system is experiencing high usage or a temporary issue. Typically, this resets after a few minutes. If it continues to occur with very few messages, it may be a bug, and reaching out to support would be the best way to resolve it. |
