Assistant Professor (Education), Department of Methodology, LSE.
* Promoted to Associate Professor (Education) from August 2026.
Data science education, generative AI in teaching, and research at LSE. I teach data science and study how students learn when generative AI is in the room.
AI in Education Fellow · 2025–2027
| ◎ | AI and Education Fellowship (2025–2027). Fellowship programme: building a proactive GenAI tutor for DS105 with an XML-based skills taxonomy aligned to each week’s objectives. I tested a custom, temporally aware bot in 2025–26; I am now in initial data cleaning and analysis. From September to December 2026 (teaching buyout) I develop the proactive version, test it on DS202 in Autumn 2026/27, then deploy more fully in DS105 in Winter 2026/27 (Jan–Mar 2027). |
| ◎ | GENIAL (project site). Co-led with Marcos Barreto, Dorottya Sallai, and Casey Kearney; funded by the LSE Eden Centre and the LSE Data Science Institute. Our GENIAL Framework maps student–GenAI engagement from ChatGPT logs and Git histories onto Kolb’s experiential learning cycle. I am using it in the new fellowship research cycle (2025–2027). |
| ◎ | Teaching. I convene DS105 (Data for Data Science), DS205 (Advanced Data Manipulation), and ME204 (Data Engineering for the Social World, summer school) at the LSE Data Science Institute. I also collaborated on the AI Leadership Accelerator. |
