multi line copy paste fails due to new line carries, havent found a way to avoid this

be able to copy paste multi line strings

Actual behaviour

only pastes the first line and starts executing the call

It is really bad! It not only crash the q session it crash my regular terminal as well

Additional context from another user experiencing the same issue:

• Consistently occurs when pasting multi-line text (e.g., pip install error messages)
• Happens in iTerm on macOS using BASH
• CLI begins responding after first line, interrupting full paste
• Requires manual line-by-line paste or additional steps to complete input
• Verified across different paste methods (Cmd+V, middle-click)

Specific observation: This does not occur with other CLI tools, suggesting it's specific to Amazon Q Developer CLI's input handling.

Potential impact: Significantly disrupts workflow efficiency, especially when sharing error logs or multi-line command outputs.

Would be grateful for any insights or potential workarounds.

I'm gonna leave this open since there are people still complaining about it, but the issue has been fixed for me for at least a month, potentially more. Currently on version 1.19.7

I wonder if an issue Im facing now is related. I am creating a new agent, and Im creating my own, general, and I am pasting in this agent , and the terminal has been stuck after the line that says 4. Design cohesive solution maint thats the end of the text right there. Ctrl c does nothing, escape does nothing. I wanted an hour. Im going to have to kill iterm on mac to try it again.

Edit:
Funny, just as i canceled, and went to my other terminal (thats still running cc), I got to that same point, then pasted it in there, well, its still scrolling wild, fro more than 60s until i pressed escape, and up arrow. I think it's partially because there was plenty of context up there, e.g. near needing compression, and I probably should have restarted the session. Shouldn't have to do that though.

Ok I just realized that when i pressed the esc key, it just was showign the prompt again to create the agent, so i inadvertently canceled it. Then i paste it in this time, and it stuck on a different section of the snippet, e.g. Partner with devops-engineer on deployme

So some kind of paste issues still happening.

Edit:
Ok i exited, then started it up again, right out of the gate /agents personal -> generate. Then when i pasted it, its just scrolling wild, i can see the entire paste rolling on the screen over and. over at hyper-speed and its stuck there until i press esc to get back to the "Generate" prompt.

Edit:
This time i switched to Haiku,
I selected generate, but when I pasted, nothing is showing, it locked right there.. esc. or ctrl+c does nothing .

FYI things work normally when just using it for inference and building files, the only issue I've had is the pasting (see my OP).
